Devon May

Devon is a full time training professional beach volleyball player, as well as a co-founder and coach at @thebeach.co, Vancouver’s premier beach volleyball program. In her role as Head Coach – Player Development for the 15U team, Devon will bring her work ethic, perseverance and tenacity to the team in helping them build advanced volleyball skills.
Devon spent her younger years playing for Thunder Beach and Sideout before playing indoor varsity volleyball at SFU. She followed that up with a victory lap at the University of Alabama in Birmingham where she competed on the NCAA 1 pairs beach team. Devon then returned to UAB as an assistant coach before pursuing her dream of making Team Canada beach volleyball.

Mike Walkinshaw

Mike is a Certified Development Coach, and has a long history of playing competitive sports, including volleyball, ultimate, football, and soccer. Mike is moving into his 4th year as coach of this group.
Mike combines passion for coaching volleyball with strong analytical skills to help Powerwest teams achieve their best performances. In his role as Club Director, Mike re-started Powerwest in 2019 to fill the huge gap in demand for volleyball on the North Shore. In his role as Head Coach – Team Performance, Mike will work collaboratively with Devon May, in coaching the team during match time, by helping each player understand their strengths and areas for improvement, and aligning the team structure.
